Championship run comes to an end for both of Valleys U14 Camogie Teams

The Championship run came to an end for both of Valleys U14 camogie teams last week unfortunately.
The U14B2 team travelled to Douglas on Tues 01st Oct to play the hosts in a QF knockout game & it was a battle right to the end between the two teams. Valleys were a little slow to get going initially but pulled it back & led going into the closing 10 mins. However tired legs got the better of us & Douglas advanced at the end, to valleys disappointment. This group of girls had a great year in reaching the league final earlier in the summer & winning 3 out of 3 of their round robin championship games. Each game brought improved skills, great teamwork & hard work and a lovely comradeship amongst the girls. Well done to all of them & we look forward to next year’s games again.
The U14P2 team was originally meant to travel to Newtownshandrum on Saturday afternoon last to contest the Championship Semi final, but with the weather warning it was agreed to move the game to Sunday morning instead. It was a lovely sunny morning for the game which was eagerly anticipated by both sides having only a point separate them earlier in the League pairing. Valleys did face into a strong wind in the first half alright & it was NTS who started the better with it & lead well at halftime despite valleys having chances. The Valleys girls regrouped though & started brightly with some lovely scores. However, a few missed opportunities & we couldn’t reduce the NTS lead & they ran out deserved winners. We wish them the best of luck in the county final. This team has been developing & learning all season & the benefit of playing in the P2 grade will stand to them we are sure. Well done to all the girls involved.
